Instructions for Gateway Secondary Claims

When billing your secondary claims, Gateway EDI takes the secondary insurance information included on the patient’s Primary claim originally sent. When an electronic payment through Gateway EDI is received on the Primary Claim they will then forward a claim on to the Secondary Insurance with the electronic Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

There is no need to choose “All” or just to bill “secondary claims” to Gateway EDI. This will cause them to bill as a Primary Claim, and you will see denials come back asking for an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

In Lytec your secondary claims cannot be aged if not shown as billed. There is a way to set up a file that will allow you to “bill” the secondary insurances that would in usual cases crossover automatically without having to waste paper. Included are instructions if you would like to set up a fix to the aging issue on your own. If you would like someone at the office to assist you please call and schedule.
